18 January 2016 - Topeka - Colly Creek Ward

Hey hey everyone!
How's everything been going? I hope it's been fantastic!

The past couple of weeks have, as always, been full of miracles! We've been working a lot with Kristy and Daniel and we've definitely been able to see, as they've come closer to Christ, they've faced more opposition and trials in their lives. Sometimes in life, it's so easy to feel as if we're surrounded by a mist of darkness, with absolutely no hope of finding any direction or going anywhere, but the Jesus Christ and His Gospel are that light that guides us through adversity and trial. Kristy and Daniel are finding that out for themselves and are moving forward with faith and passion to follow Jesus Christ. We've also been working with a recent convert's girlfriend, Michelle. She, like Kristy and Daniel, has gone through a lot of trials in her life and is ready to leave it all behind and follow Jesus Christ.

In random news, Elder Mitchell and I got escorted off of the grounds of an apartment complex. We were contacting a media referral and decided to try a member family close by. The "groundskeeper" caught us and asked us to leave, because he thought we were door to door salesman. We told him exactly what we were doing and he followed us to the family's door. They weren't home, so he said no one lived there and proceeded to escort us off. Definitely eventful and interesting. I love Kansas!

I'm so grateful to be here in Kansas! I love it here so much!

Have an amazing week! Love you all mucho!

Con amor,
Elder Murphy

4 January 2016 - Topeka - Colly Creek Ward

Greetings from Topeka! How was everyone's New Year's? So, this week was a flourish of events, but, still a week of miracles!

On Thursday, I got transferred to Topeka to be with Elder Mitchell! I'm definitely going to miss la Ramita de Kellogg, but I already love Top City so much! We've seen so many miracles!

We're teaching Kristy and Daniel, a mother and son, who have been hit with some pretty big trials in their lives right now. They've decided that they need to put God first in their lives. As they've done so,they've talked about how much happier they've felt and how much more peace that has been brought into their lives. It's definitely
still not easy, but it's more bearable. New year. New start. Seeing Kristy and Daniel's situation reminds me of Alma and his people from the Book of Mormon. Mosiah 24:15 says, "And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord." I definitely know the Lord has a plan and as we submit cheerfully to His will, with patience, our burdens will
be bearable and a new light will fill our lives.

Another week with not a ton of time, but I love you guys! And I hope you have an amazing week! Gracias por todo!

Con amor,
Elder Murphy

28 December 2015 - Wichita - Kellogg Spanish Branch

Buenas Tardes a todos de la tierra prometida!

I hope you all had a sweet Navidad and were able to put Christ a little mas in your lives!

The past couple of weeks have been a flourish of events, but along with them came so many miracles! Andreas was baptized on Christmas Eve and it was such a miracle! The days leading up to the baptism, it seemed as if everything that could've gone wrong and more did go wrong, but as we pressed forward with faith in Christ, knowing without a doubt that if we did all we needed to do, he would do the rest, it happened! As we do everything we need to do in the strength of the Lord, we can have full confidence that it will all work out the way it's supposed to. All it takes is a little seed of faith!

I don't have a ton of time this week, but I truly do know that Christ is the reason for the season. He came into the world with light and as we allow that light to grow within us, we will not only feel more of god's love for us, but we will be changed forever. As we turn to Christ and His light, He helps us find who we truly are.

Have an amazing week! Thank you all for your examples to me! Love you!

Como siempre,
Elder Murphy
